Meta announced on 28 July 2026 a joint venture with BlackRock funds (Global Infrastructure Partners and HPS Investment Partners) to develop its 1 GW El Paso, Texas data center. BlackRock funds hold 80% and Meta 20%; total development cost is put at about $14bn, with capacity starting to come online in 2028. More than 2,300 workers were already on site at announcement.
