AWS presented plans on 27 May 2026 for a data center in the Maintal-West industrial area north of Frankfurt: about 10.6 hectares hosting two server buildings, a substation and offices, with up to 100 permanent jobs. The mayor put the investment in the billion-euro range and commissioning within five years. AWS stated air cooling for about 95 percent of operating hours and up to 93 percent of additional water needs from stored rainwater. Compute capacity was not disclosed.
